Narrative:

Cpr X received ATIS and our clearance. Cpr X called ground for taxi. Our position was on ramp located at the northeast end of taxiway J which crosses runway 32 at about 2000 ft from the departure end. We were aware that the active would be runway 32, 'gso ground cpr X, taxi with clearance.' ground: 'cpr X taxi runway 32 via taxiway J.' copilot read back same. As we proceeded out taxiway J to cross runway 32 and were 500 ft from the intersection, I noticed an small transport fly by on takeoff and remarked to the copilot via intercom 'that's cutting it pretty close, I wonder if the tower knew ground has cleared us to cross.' copilot replied 'I don't know, I think we are supposed to hold short of runway 32.' I said, 'no, he has cleared us to runway 32 but he only mentioned taxiway J.' copilot says, 'he didn't say taxiway a.' (taxiway a is the parallel on the other side of runway 32 from our position.) I said 'well, he never instructed us to hold short of runway 32 here and we didn't read it back, so if nobody's coming I'm going to cross.' I looked up and down the runway and continued across. Copilot said, 'I'll call to make sure.' I said, 'wait and see what he says, nobody is landing or taking off.' sure enough, ground called, 'cpr X you are crossing the active, I didn't clear you to cross.' I said, 'roger, I would have expected you to say 'hold short of runway 32. And have us read it back.' ground said 'no cpr X you were not cleared to cross runway 32.' I said to the copilot, 'I'm calling back here as soon as we get to macon.' ground said, 'cpr X you are cleared to taxi to runway 32 via taxiway a.

AS WE PROCEEDED OUT TXWY J TO CROSS RWY 32 AND WERE 500 FT FROM THE INTXN, I NOTICED AN SMT FLY BY ON TKOF AND REMARKED TO THE COPLT VIA INTERCOM 'THAT'S CUTTING IT PRETTY CLOSE, I WONDER IF THE TWR KNEW GND HAS CLRED US TO CROSS.' COPLT REPLIED 'I DON'T KNOW, I THINK WE ARE SUPPOSED TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 32.' I SAID, 'NO, HE HAS CLRED US TO RWY 32 BUT HE ONLY MENTIONED TXWY J.' COPLT SAYS, 'HE DIDN'T SAY TXWY A.' (TXWY A IS THE PARALLEL ON THE OTHER SIDE OF RWY 32 FROM OUR POS.)
