Narrative:
During a maximum performance climb, left engine temperature increased to an uncomfortable (not dangerous) level. I leveled at 9000 ft for approximately 2 mins. An air carrier mdt passed in front of me nebound. Neither of us diverted. After the air carrier passed I continued to climb. Upon getting within 15 mi of acy, I checked in with acy approach. The controller asked me if I was at 9000 ft and informed me ZNY had inquired. At this time I do not know if the center or air carrier may have reported a possible altitude violation.

Title: A VFR SMT HAD LTSS WITH AN IFR MDT IN VMC.
Narrative: DURING A MAX PERFORMANCE CLB, L ENG TEMP INCREASED TO AN UNCOMFORTABLE (NOT DANGEROUS) LEVEL. I LEVELED AT 9000 FT FOR APPROX 2 MINS. AN ACR MDT PASSED IN FRONT OF ME NEBOUND. NEITHER OF US DIVERTED. AFTER THE ACR PASSED I CONTINUED TO CLB. UPON GETTING WITHIN 15 MI OF ACY, I CHKED IN WITH ACY APCH. THE CTLR ASKED ME IF I WAS AT 9000 FT AND INFORMED ME ZNY HAD INQUIRED. AT THIS TIME I DO NOT KNOW IF THE CTR OR ACR MAY HAVE RPTED A POSSIBLE ALT VIOLATION.
