Narrative:

Diverted to rdu while en route to dca, filed alternate bwi. Redispatched as per company operations. Rdu not in FMC database, although listed as alternate in company operations manual. Only charts available first officer's (possibly out of date). No charts required for rdu in this aircraft. Visual flown to landing. Suplemental information from acn 251502: I had IFR plates for rdu even though company does not require them. The diversion was caused from thunderstorms on east coast. We deviated our original course about 250 NM south off course as per ATC and held for approximately 15 mins -- at the time we diverted to krdu, ATC had no idea of the length of delay to expect.
