Narrative:

After completing a water takeoff in a river, aircraft was heading for some high power lines. I told the student to make a right turn as speed and altitude permitted, since the lines were still at least 1 mi away. Student got nervous and decided to reduce power and land in the river again. By this time, we were getting near the power lines, so went under them, landing since the lines were about 100 ft high. I felt it was safer at this time to go under the lines instead fighting over control of the plane and trying to start a climb close to the lines. Also, being that this was a very loud aircraft making it hard to communicate with the student, I feel an intercom would have helped the student understand better what I wanted him to do since later he said he was having trouble hearing me.
