Narrative:

I was conducting an EMS flight from xyz, to ZZZ. Upon departure from xyz I called abc radio to report my position and intention to transit the area en route to ZZZ. 1 aircraft was reported to be taxiing to runway 6 for takeoff. A bit later, an aircraft announced it also was transiting the area in my vicinity. I positioned myself on the west side of highway thinking the other might be northbound along this same highway. As I neared the airport, I was looking for the runway 6 departure (the airport was to my right front). When I looked back, I saw a yellow (small aircraft single engine land) with large block 'north' numbers on the wing tops slide under my nose on the left side. In-flight visibility was most likely less than the 3-4 mi, reported at abc. This aircraft was lower, by 200-300 ft than I was.
