Narrative:

I was instructing at north dallas flight school in dallas (ads) and working for mr. X. I realized he was performing maintenance illegally (because he is not an a&P). I quit when he expected me to fly the planes after he worked on them. As a result I told all my students they could not fly the planes and I changed jobs to another flight school. On another subject I have encountered, many close calls at denton (dto) because of excessive traffic and radio frequency congestion. Denton is an uncontrolled field and there are 4 or 5 airports nearby on the same frequency. Denton needs a different frequency to help relieve some of the radio congestion! Contributing to the traffic problem are: mckinney airport (tki) is closed to touch-and-go's. Hudson (hqz) is under construction, and touch-and-go's are prohibited at ads. As a result, most instructors use dto to teach lndgs. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter has taken care of the illegal aspects of the FBO by removing himself and his students from the situation. Use of the FAA hotline was suggested for further follow- up. The airports adjacent to dto have different frequencys for unicom. Problem is the congestion occurs from airports some distance away, with overlap of communications. Reporter states that mckinney has been reopened for touch-and-go use. It was closed for construction work. Apparently hudson airport is in the same state and will be reopened soon. This too will help spread the training to those airports.

Title: FREQ CONGESTION ON UNICOM HAS RPTR UPSET.

Narrative: I WAS INSTRUCTING AT NORTH DALLAS FLT SCHOOL IN DALLAS (ADS) AND WORKING FOR MR. X. I REALIZED HE WAS PERFORMING MAINT ILLEGALLY (BECAUSE HE IS NOT AN A&P). I QUIT WHEN HE EXPECTED ME TO FLY THE PLANES AFTER HE WORKED ON THEM. AS A RESULT I TOLD ALL MY STUDENTS THEY COULD NOT FLY THE PLANES AND I CHANGED JOBS TO ANOTHER FLT SCHOOL. ON ANOTHER SUBJECT I HAVE ENCOUNTERED, MANY CLOSE CALLS AT DENTON (DTO) BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE TFC AND RADIO FREQ CONGESTION. DENTON IS AN UNCTLED FIELD AND THERE ARE 4 OR 5 ARPTS NEARBY ON THE SAME FREQ. DENTON NEEDS A DIFFERENT FREQ TO HELP RELIEVE SOME OF THE RADIO CONGESTION! CONTRIBUTING TO THE TFC PROB ARE: MCKINNEY ARPT (TKI) IS CLOSED TO TOUCH-AND-GO'S. HUDSON (HQZ) IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION, AND TOUCH-AND-GO'S ARE PROHIBITED AT ADS. AS A RESULT, MOST INSTRUCTORS USE DTO TO TEACH LNDGS. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR HAS TAKEN CARE OF THE ILLEGAL ASPECTS OF THE FBO BY REMOVING HIMSELF AND HIS STUDENTS FROM THE SIT. USE OF THE FAA HOTLINE WAS SUGGESTED FOR FURTHER FOLLOW- UP. THE ARPTS ADJACENT TO DTO HAVE DIFFERENT FREQS FOR UNICOM. PROB IS THE CONGESTION OCCURS FROM ARPTS SOME DISTANCE AWAY, WITH OVERLAP OF COMS. RPTR STATES THAT MCKINNEY HAS BEEN REOPENED FOR TOUCH-AND-GO USE. IT WAS CLOSED FOR CONSTRUCTION WORK. APPARENTLY HUDSON ARPT IS IN THE SAME STATE AND WILL BE REOPENED SOON. THIS TOO WILL HELP SPREAD THE TRAINING TO THOSE ARPTS.
