Narrative:

Had just finished runup and turned aircraft to look for landing traffic. My passenger is also a pilot, we both looked. 1 plane was on final, we waited, he landed, we looked again. Approach traffic was clear. Started to taxi into position and gave radio call for takeoff on unicom. Just as I was ready to open the throttle, we heard a row above us and a low wing aircraft. Almost landed on top of us. Not only was he not seen by either of us on final, he made no radio call, probably was not on the unicom frequency or he would have heard ours. We had checked twice for landing traffic and announced before taking the active. If the landing low wing had been on the radio, perhaps 1 aircraft's radio calls would have alerted the pilot to the situation. Also, had the landing aircraft had on his landing light, he might have been more visible. We were showing navigation lights plus beacon and strobes. Use your radio in the pattern!

Title: AN SMA LANDED OVER THE TOP OF AN SMA ON THE RWY. THE LNDG SMA WAS NOT USING HIS RADIO.

Narrative: HAD JUST FINISHED RUNUP AND TURNED ACFT TO LOOK FOR LNDG TFC. MY PAX IS ALSO A PLT, WE BOTH LOOKED. 1 PLANE WAS ON FINAL, WE WAITED, HE LANDED, WE LOOKED AGAIN. APCH TFC WAS CLR. STARTED TO TAXI INTO POS AND GAVE RADIO CALL FOR TKOF ON UNICOM. JUST AS I WAS READY TO OPEN THE THROTTLE, WE HEARD A ROW ABOVE US AND A LOW WING ACFT. ALMOST LANDED ON TOP OF US. NOT ONLY WAS HE NOT SEEN BY EITHER OF US ON FINAL, HE MADE NO RADIO CALL, PROBABLY WAS NOT ON THE UNICOM FREQ OR HE WOULD HAVE HEARD OURS. WE HAD CHKED TWICE FOR LNDG TFC AND ANNOUNCED BEFORE TAKING THE ACTIVE. IF THE LNDG LOW WING HAD BEEN ON THE RADIO, PERHAPS 1 ACFT'S RADIO CALLS WOULD HAVE ALERTED THE PLT TO THE SIT. ALSO, HAD THE LNDG ACFT HAD ON HIS LNDG LIGHT, HE MIGHT HAVE BEEN MORE VISIBLE. WE WERE SHOWING NAV LIGHTS PLUS BEACON AND STROBES. USE YOUR RADIO IN THE PATTERN!
