Narrative:
I lifted off for a VFR local sightseeing trip from det with a right turn approval from runway 33 to go northbound. I went north, then northeast toward lake st. Claire, then north again following the shoreline. At some point during the above turns, det asked if I was on course. I told him my intentions and he said stay on his frequency, but shortly he would have a new frequency for me. (I thought during this time he was contacting another facility about my flight.) mins later, he gave me a new frequency for selfridge approach. I tuned to that frequency, but had to wait a couple of mins so not to step on other conversations. I finally contacted them with 'north- number with you at 2700 ft.' he came back to me with 'north- number stand by.' meanwhile I'm getting closer and closer to selfridge angb and getting nervous about it. I also thought it was a handoff so they know I'm there and approve it or they would have given me other vectors. He finally came back and asked me to squawk XXXX and identify. I did. Just then, a military jet circled around in front of me at approximately the same altitude and approximately 1 mi away. The approach controller asked where I was. I told him I was over the lake just east of his base. He then said I was 3 mi southeast of his base and said I entered his airspace before making contact with him. I said I was handed off to him by det tower 8 mi north of detroit city airport. He said they were very upset with me. The same selfridge approach controller gave me radar advisories for my trip until I asked for vectors back to detroit city airport. He said to terminate his radar coverage and contact detroit approach. He never again mentioned the near miss incident. I did not contact det approach. I contacted det tower for landing and did so without incident.

Title: AN SMA PENETRATED A MIL ATA INADVERTENTLY. HE THOUGHT THAT HE HAD BEEN HANDED OFF BY THE PREVIOUS CTLR.
Narrative: I LIFTED OFF FOR A VFR LCL SIGHTSEEING TRIP FROM DET WITH A R TURN APPROVAL FROM RWY 33 TO GO NBOUND. I WENT N, THEN NE TOWARD LAKE ST. CLAIRE, THEN N AGAIN FOLLOWING THE SHORELINE. AT SOME POINT DURING THE ABOVE TURNS, DET ASKED IF I WAS ON COURSE. I TOLD HIM MY INTENTIONS AND HE SAID STAY ON HIS FREQ, BUT SHORTLY HE WOULD HAVE A NEW FREQ FOR ME. (I THOUGHT DURING THIS TIME HE WAS CONTACTING ANOTHER FACILITY ABOUT MY FLT.) MINS LATER, HE GAVE ME A NEW FREQ FOR SELFRIDGE APCH. I TUNED TO THAT FREQ, BUT HAD TO WAIT A COUPLE OF MINS SO NOT TO STEP ON OTHER CONVERSATIONS. I FINALLY CONTACTED THEM WITH 'N- NUMBER WITH YOU AT 2700 FT.' HE CAME BACK TO ME WITH 'N- NUMBER STAND BY.' MEANWHILE I'M GETTING CLOSER AND CLOSER TO SELFRIDGE ANGB AND GETTING NERVOUS ABOUT IT. I ALSO THOUGHT IT WAS A HDOF SO THEY KNOW I'M THERE AND APPROVE IT OR THEY WOULD HAVE GIVEN ME OTHER VECTORS. HE FINALLY CAME BACK AND ASKED ME TO SQUAWK XXXX AND IDENT. I DID. JUST THEN, A MIL JET CIRCLED AROUND IN FRONT OF ME AT APPROX THE SAME ALT AND APPROX 1 MI AWAY. THE APCH CTLR ASKED WHERE I WAS. I TOLD HIM I WAS OVER THE LAKE JUST E OF HIS BASE. HE THEN SAID I WAS 3 MI SE OF HIS BASE AND SAID I ENTERED HIS AIRSPACE BEFORE MAKING CONTACT WITH HIM. I SAID I WAS HANDED OFF TO HIM BY DET TWR 8 MI N OF DETROIT CITY ARPT. HE SAID THEY WERE VERY UPSET WITH ME. THE SAME SELFRIDGE APCH CTLR GAVE ME RADAR ADVISORIES FOR MY TRIP UNTIL I ASKED FOR VECTORS BACK TO DETROIT CITY ARPT. HE SAID TO TERMINATE HIS RADAR COVERAGE AND CONTACT DETROIT APCH. HE NEVER AGAIN MENTIONED THE NEAR MISS INCIDENT. I DID NOT CONTACT DET APCH. I CONTACTED DET TWR FOR LNDG AND DID SO WITHOUT INCIDENT.
