Narrative:
While flying VFR from mmu to frg, I descended to approximately 200 ft over long island sound because I saw what I believed to be a bright orange object in the water. I thought it might be a life vest or raft. It was not. I saw several other orange objects and continued to check them out. I think now they may have been lobster trap markers. Upon return to frg, the tower asked me to call ny TRACON. I was careful to comply with all FARS during this episode. The only other possibility is that I violated controled airspace which I am sure I did not.
