Narrative:

On climb out #1 engine started to fluctuate. EPR N1 N2 fuel flow tried to correct with engine and fuel heat. Completed applicable portions of cockpit operating manual. Coordinated with dispatch and maintenance control. Fluctuations were reduced with reduced power -- never had any compressor stalls or vibrations. Elected to leave engine running. Completed normal approach and landing with normal power. Got redispatched and tried it again in a different aircraft. Never declared an emergency. No assistance needed. Sky was clear, we were never in clouds. Temperatures were warm.
