Narrative:

Captain elected to cross the braid intersection somewhat high (approximately 500 ft) to avoid cumulo nimbus clouds over fix. Captain directed me to advise controller we may be somewhat high at braid. Controller responded in an unprofessional manner saying we had no reason to be high other than starting down late. Controller failed to ask why we deviated, did not realize we were deviating for WX. I attempted to explain to him why we deviated, he did ont respond or apologize. We could easily have made braid on altitude. No other traffic on 40 mi screen on TCASII. We landed on a runway normally used for departures at dfw because of the extremely light traffic. I could see no reason why this controller would be upset.
