Narrative:

A failed telephone company power supply resulted in loss of coordination and automation lines between cos ATCT and ZDV for approximately 5 hours. Traffic was light initially but increased to moderate. Radar handoffs with center were accomplished through a third party (publication ATCT) as was other flight plan and control information. Apparently, these power supplies, of which there are several in this facility, have no backup and, as occurred, are subject to fail without warning. What if this happened during busy traffic?
