Narrative:

On a flight from den to cheyenne we had an FAA maintenance inspector giving us a check flight. Seems kind of odd for a maintenance fed to be doing the job of an operations fed. Anyway, the flight went relatively well with no known violations. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated that he did not know that maintenance type inspectors did conduct en route line checks, even though it was done in an acceptable manner. He was advised of the FAA policy with regard to the en route inspection requirements for each carrier and type of aircraft.

Narrative: ON A FLT FROM DEN TO CHEYENNE WE HAD AN FAA MAINT INSPECTOR GIVING US A CHK FLT. SEEMS KIND OF ODD FOR A MAINT FED TO BE DOING THE JOB OF AN OPS FED. ANYWAY, THE FLT WENT RELATIVELY WELL WITH NO KNOWN VIOLATIONS. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THAT HE DID NOT KNOW THAT MAINT TYPE INSPECTORS DID CONDUCT ENRTE LINE CHKS, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS DONE IN AN ACCEPTABLE MANNER.
