Narrative:

During an instructional flight, my student and I were advised to enter a base to the pattern. We complied and reported. We were then cleared to land, next told to make an immediate right turn. Looking right, we would have collided with another aircraft. Selected high rate of climb and passed over other arriving aircraft 500 ft while still in right turn and reentered final approach.
