Narrative:

Departing on drake SID at approximately 6000 ft, VNAV dropped off causing aircraft to exceed 250 KTS. In the process of trying to slow aircraft, I climbed to 11300 ft before noticing that I had only been cleared to 8000 ft. A complete failure of CDU, autothrottle, autoplt, etc. First officer contacted departure control and he cleared us to 15000 ft.

Narrative: DEPARTING ON DRAKE SID AT APPROX 6000 FT, VNAV DROPPED OFF CAUSING ACFT TO EXCEED 250 KTS. IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO SLOW ACFT, I CLBED TO 11300 FT BEFORE NOTICING THAT I HAD ONLY BEEN CLRED TO 8000 FT. A COMPLETE FAILURE OF CDU, AUTOTHROTTLE, AUTOPLT, ETC. FO CONTACTED DEP CTL AND HE CLRED US TO 15000 FT.
