Narrative:

I approached Q91 from the west. The air was turbulent and gusting on my nose. There is a tree obstacle at the west end of Q91 runway. On final approach at 200 ft AGL, I encountered a wind condition that put me in a 90 degree bank to the left and suddenly 50 ft AGL. I found myself with a large tree between the airport and my position. I maneuvered to miss the tree when something black flashed by and cracked my windshield (upper left corner). I could see what looked like smudge marks by the crack and thought I had hit a bird. The aircraft flew normally and sustained no other damage that I could determine and I didn't want to take a chance and fly through the wind shear or mountain rotor previously encountered. I returned to concord airport, my home base. After landing I noticed the damage, not visible from the pilot's seat, and knew I had hit a wire. Trees, wires, and other obstacles at the ends of runways should be removed.

Title: SMA ENCOUNTERS TURB ON FINAL APCH, HITS WIRE.

Narrative: I APCHED Q91 FROM THE W. THE AIR WAS TURBULENT AND GUSTING ON MY NOSE. THERE IS A TREE OBSTACLE AT THE W END OF Q91 RWY. ON FINAL APCH AT 200 FT AGL, I ENCOUNTERED A WIND CONDITION THAT PUT ME IN A 90 DEG BANK TO THE L AND SUDDENLY 50 FT AGL. I FOUND MYSELF WITH A LARGE TREE BTWN THE ARPT AND MY POS. I MANEUVERED TO MISS THE TREE WHEN SOMETHING BLACK FLASHED BY AND CRACKED MY WINDSHIELD (UPPER L CORNER). I COULD SEE WHAT LOOKED LIKE SMUDGE MARKS BY THE CRACK AND THOUGHT I HAD HIT A BIRD. THE ACFT FLEW NORMALLY AND SUSTAINED NO OTHER DAMAGE THAT I COULD DETERMINE AND I DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE A CHANCE AND FLY THROUGH THE WIND SHEAR OR MOUNTAIN ROTOR PREVIOUSLY ENCOUNTERED. I RETURNED TO CONCORD ARPT, MY HOME BASE. AFTER LNDG I NOTICED THE DAMAGE, NOT VISIBLE FROM THE PLT'S SEAT, AND KNEW I HAD HIT A WIRE. TREES, WIRES, AND OTHER OBSTACLES AT THE ENDS OF RWYS SHOULD BE REMOVED.
