Narrative:

We were cleared direct hch VOR. At about FL230 center controller says 'after hinch mountain it's the 'darbs' arrival into louisville.' I looked in my book and I don't have a darbs arrival. I asked the copilot if he had one and he said 'no.' I said 'my books are up to date because I put in the last 2 revisions before we left so maybe he thinks we're going to cincinnati.' the copilot looked under cincinnati in his book and didn't have a darbs arrival there. (There is a darbs arrival into tampa). We were given a frequency change and told that controller we didn't have a darbs arrival. He said it was new and went into effect on apr/xx/93. He did say he would read it to me and I could copy down the headings but I declined because I didn't think that was proper or safe (that's not exactly what I told him, though). He put us on a heading and said expect further from the next controller. I called the company on the other radio and the dispatcher wasn't much help but I told him it was going to happen to the next flight to louisville, too. The next controller gave us a heading to intercept the 131 degree radial of louisville inbound. No problems from then on. A few weeks ago I complained (in a letter) to the company about the quality of the commercial plates. I didn't know whether I should throw something away or not, even when they told me to throw it away. I used to be able to trust commercial chart company but there are so many mistakes in the plates I have to second-guess them. I checked several other pilot's commercial books and none of them have a darbs arrival into louisville. (I have been spelling it 'darbs' but I'm not sure if that is the real arrival or not because I've never seen one.) someone should jump on company and make them do a better job.

Title: ACR UNABLE TO FLY ARR AS ISSUED BY ATC, CHART NOT RECEIVED FROM COMMERCIAL COMPANY IN TIMELY FASHION.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED DIRECT HCH VOR. AT ABOUT FL230 CTR CTLR SAYS 'AFTER HINCH MOUNTAIN IT'S THE 'DARBS' ARR INTO LOUISVILLE.' I LOOKED IN MY BOOK AND I DON'T HAVE A DARBS ARR. I ASKED THE COPLT IF HE HAD ONE AND HE SAID 'NO.' I SAID 'MY BOOKS ARE UP TO DATE BECAUSE I PUT IN THE LAST 2 REVISIONS BEFORE WE LEFT SO MAYBE HE THINKS WE'RE GOING TO CINCINNATI.' THE COPLT LOOKED UNDER CINCINNATI IN HIS BOOK AND DIDN'T HAVE A DARBS ARR THERE. (THERE IS A DARBS ARR INTO TAMPA). WE WERE GIVEN A FREQ CHANGE AND TOLD THAT CTLR WE DIDN'T HAVE A DARBS ARR. HE SAID IT WAS NEW AND WENT INTO EFFECT ON APR/XX/93. HE DID SAY HE WOULD READ IT TO ME AND I COULD COPY DOWN THE HDGS BUT I DECLINED BECAUSE I DIDN'T THINK THAT WAS PROPER OR SAFE (THAT'S NOT EXACTLY WHAT I TOLD HIM, THOUGH). HE PUT US ON A HDG AND SAID EXPECT FURTHER FROM THE NEXT CTLR. I CALLED THE COMPANY ON THE OTHER RADIO AND THE DISPATCHER WASN'T MUCH HELP BUT I TOLD HIM IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN TO THE NEXT FLT TO LOUISVILLE, TOO. THE NEXT CTLR GAVE US A HDG TO INTERCEPT THE 131 DEG RADIAL OF LOUISVILLE INBOUND. NO PROBS FROM THEN ON. A FEW WKS AGO I COMPLAINED (IN A LETTER) TO THE COMPANY ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE COMMERCIAL PLATES. I CHKED SEVERAL OTHER PLT'S COMMERCIAL BOOKS AND NONE OF THEM HAVE A DARBS ARR INTO LOUISVILLE. (I HAVE BEEN SPELLING IT 'DARBS' BUT I'M NOT SURE IF THAT IS THE REAL ARR OR NOT BECAUSE I'VE NEVER SEEN ONE.) SOMEONE SHOULD JUMP ON COMPANY AND MAKE THEM DO A BETTER JOB.
