Narrative:

Took off from ywg with destination gfk with WX report showing gfk with 2 mi visibility when, in fact, the visibility had not been 1/4 mi all morning. Company is investigating to find out where this WX came from. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporting pilot states that his company has found that someone in the FAA WX system keyed in jms WX in place of gfk. Exactly why is not known, but it is probably an honest mistake. This sort of thing could happen often, but apparently happens very seldom. The crew was waiting in their aircraft for gfk WX to improve. When they got the favorable WX report, they took off only to have to hold for 2 hours.
