Narrative:

I was first officer on flight leaving houston hobby. The runway for departures was 22. Tower instructed us to turn right to 040 degrees on departure. We were cleared for takeoff, completed our checklists, and took off. Our commercial chart has a paragraph under heading of IFR departures which stated departures off runway 22 climb to 2100 ft before turning west. Although we were turning to the northeast, we were turning through the west. Passing 2000 ft still on runway heading, departure asked if we had turned yet. They then had us fly a tight right turn to heading 050. We explained the note on our commercial chart. They said something about being in 'someone's face.' we had received no traffic calls. We were not sure exactly what happened but there appeared to be some kind of conflict.
