Narrative:

While legal at FL290 we missed a turn called for in our flight plan. Our filed route was odi-J30-bribe-bdf. Conversation in the cockpit was flowing and when I checked the DME, I noticed that we were 15 NM past bribe on J30. I notified the captain who was the PF that we were beyond bribe and he commenced a turn toward bdf. Before reaching bdf, ATC cleared us to climb and maintain FL310 and expedite the climb. Traffic was issued at 2 O'clock at FL290. We crossed the traffic at about FL300 climbing. Our aircraft was not TCASII equipped. I believe that our late turn was a contributing factor, but the bulk of the cause rests with ATC.
