Narrative:

Did a pwrback from gate in tulsa, ok. All 3 engines were operating and aircraft was light weight, only approximately 132000 pounds. Did a right turn away from the gate (approximately 270 degree turn) to taxi for runway 36R. The turn was accomplished using minimum thrust, almost completely at idle, because we were light weight and all 3 engines were running. Takeoff and flight was normal. Upon arrival at destination we were informed that an mdt aircraft had been parked behind us in tulsa with its engine cowling open and that during the turn away from the gate we had damaged the cowling with our thrust. Corrective action recommended: do 1 of 2 things. 1) do not do pwrbacks from these gates when aircraft are parked in this location on the ramp, or 2) do not park aircraft with their cowling open behind jet aircraft or this situation will surely happen again.

Title: WHILE DEPARTING GATE, JET BLAST FROM AN LGT DAMAGED THE OPEN COWLING OF A PARKED MDT.

Narrative: DID A PWRBACK FROM GATE IN TULSA, OK. ALL 3 ENGS WERE OPERATING AND ACFT WAS LIGHT WT, ONLY APPROX 132000 LBS. DID A R TURN AWAY FROM THE GATE (APPROX 270 DEG TURN) TO TAXI FOR RWY 36R. THE TURN WAS ACCOMPLISHED USING MINIMUM THRUST, ALMOST COMPLETELY AT IDLE, BECAUSE WE WERE LIGHT WT AND ALL 3 ENGS WERE RUNNING. TKOF AND FLT WAS NORMAL. UPON ARR AT DEST WE WERE INFORMED THAT AN MDT ACFT HAD BEEN PARKED BEHIND US IN TULSA WITH ITS ENG COWLING OPEN AND THAT DURING THE TURN AWAY FROM THE GATE WE HAD DAMAGED THE COWLING WITH OUR THRUST. CORRECTIVE ACTION RECOMMENDED: DO 1 OF 2 THINGS. 1) DO NOT DO PWRBACKS FROM THESE GATES WHEN ACFT ARE PARKED IN THIS LOCATION ON THE RAMP, OR 2) DO NOT PARK ACFT WITH THEIR COWLING OPEN BEHIND JET ACFT OR THIS SIT WILL SURELY HAPPEN AGAIN.
