Narrative:

Shortly after departure from lax on climb out, I noticed a status message on the lower EICAS screen, 'landing gear monitor,' and notified the captain. Consulting the aircraft manual we found no reference to this message and after checking the landing gear indicator lights we continued on to phl. Upon arrival in phl we encountered low visibility in light rain and fog and light to moderate turbulence on the approach with a strong tailwind on the base to final leg. After parking at the gate a mechanic informed us that a fairing panel on the right main gear was missing. We assumed it had come off on our departure from lax due to the EICAS message. Shortly thereafter, we were informed the panel had been located in the back yard of a residence off of the airport property in phl. The subsequent flight was cancelled and we ferried the aircraft to heavy maintenance in clt. Supplemental information from acn 230966: after checking all gear lights out, gear up and locked and going through a light test we decided that maintenance in phl could do the bite test as this aircraft in previous 2 weeks had 6 occasions when the status message, landing gear monitor came on. On arrival phl and after check exterior of the aircraft, we found 1 of the gear doors missing.

Title: ACFT EQUIP MALFUNCTION NOT RESOLVED AFTER EICAS WARNING SCREEN ALERT ON ACR WDB.

Narrative: SHORTLY AFTER DEP FROM LAX ON CLBOUT, I NOTICED A STATUS MESSAGE ON THE LOWER EICAS SCREEN, 'LNDG GEAR MONITOR,' AND NOTIFIED THE CAPT. CONSULTING THE ACFT MANUAL WE FOUND NO REF TO THIS MESSAGE AND AFTER CHKING THE LNDG GEAR INDICATOR LIGHTS WE CONTINUED ON TO PHL. UPON ARR IN PHL WE ENCOUNTERED LOW VISIBILITY IN LIGHT RAIN AND FOG AND LIGHT TO MODERATE TURB ON THE APCH WITH A STRONG TAILWIND ON THE BASE TO FINAL LEG. AFTER PARKING AT THE GATE A MECH INFORMED US THAT A FAIRING PANEL ON THE R MAIN GEAR WAS MISSING. WE ASSUMED IT HAD COME OFF ON OUR DEP FROM LAX DUE TO THE EICAS MESSAGE. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, WE WERE INFORMED THE PANEL HAD BEEN LOCATED IN THE BACK YARD OF A RESIDENCE OFF OF THE ARPT PROPERTY IN PHL. THE SUBSEQUENT FLT WAS CANCELLED AND WE FERRIED THE ACFT TO HVY MAINT IN CLT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 230966: AFTER CHKING ALL GEAR LIGHTS OUT, GEAR UP AND LOCKED AND GOING THROUGH A LIGHT TEST WE DECIDED THAT MAINT IN PHL COULD DO THE BITE TEST AS THIS ACFT IN PREVIOUS 2 WKS HAD 6 OCCASIONS WHEN THE STATUS MESSAGE, LNDG GEAR MONITOR CAME ON. ON ARR PHL AND AFTER CHK EXTERIOR OF THE ACFT, WE FOUND 1 OF THE GEAR DOORS MISSING.
