Narrative:

Air carrier X was cleared for an ILS approach to runway 25L at lax. An light transport cleared for a visual approach to runway 25R was pointed out to us as he maneuvered behind us. He was told that we were a 'heavy' and to maintain visual separation. Approximately 10 mi out, 2 targets appeared on the TCASII. One target was directly behind us and the other was about a mi to his right. Both aircraft were about 1200 ft above us. As we continued the approach, both aircraft were noted to be overtaking us and descending at a higher rate. The aircraft directly behind us became a TA and the symbol changed to yellow on the TCASII. As we passed limma (OM) at 1900 ft I contacted tower and asked if the aircraft above us was aware of our position. The tower said the other aircraft had visual contact. At 700 ft the other aircraft was 100 ft above us and we got an RA to climb at 2000 FPM. We executed a missed approach and were vectored for a visual approach to runway 24R.
