Narrative:

On the afternoon of 11/sat/92, it was reported aircraft, an small aircraft, was flying below min altitude. It was cloudy but visibility was good. However, conditions were favorable for carburetor icing. I was experiencing engine roughness and was preparing to land in a private field nearby when, after applying carburetor heat, the roughness cleared. I then headed back to C86. I realize applying carburetor heat sooner would have helped the situation before losing so much altitude.
