Narrative:

I did not properly lock canopy of aircraft. Canopy departed aircraft -- was destroyed. Very minor cosmetic damage to aircraft only (other than canopy). Drove vehicle onto runway (after advising FSS). Airport manager very firmly told me not to drive on runway again. I agreed.
