Narrative:

I was working arrival radar-west at eri, experiencing heavy traffic conditions. Ar-east was being relieved and experienced a complete icss (communication system) failure. I was immediately required to assume the traffic of that position (5-6 aircraft). 2 controllers jumped to my assistance and we worked very heavy traffic for approximately 40 mins. The icss system was reset by FAA airways facility personnel, who were called in on overtime. We don't know what caused this occurrence but -- we are briefing all personnel on how to reset icss position modules.
