Narrative:

We were cleared for a visual approach with another airliner landing on a parallel runway. Flight attendants were notified of the arrival and sterile cockpit at 10000 ft by flight engineer. We did not back up the flight attendants by listening to hear if they received the arrival notice, because of close proximity of the parallel landing aircraft. Flight attendants were rushed because of a full service on a short flight, and were preoccupied. If captain had assigned the flight engineer to listen for flight attendant's receipt of landing signal. The captain and first officer could maintain traffic vigilance. Lack of delegation of duties.
