Narrative:

Lack of fuel, engine quit, forced to land, pilot (myself) did not visually check fuel level before takeoff and sight glass gauges were not reliable. As taught, always check fuel yourself. No damage to plane. Farm owner allowing me to take off to leave.

Title: AN SMA PLT TOOK OFF WITH NEARLY EMPTY FUEL TANKS AND LANDED IN A FARMER'S FIELD. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE OR INJURY.

Narrative: LACK OF FUEL, ENG QUIT, FORCED TO LAND, PLT (MYSELF) DID NOT VISUALLY CHK FUEL LEVEL BEFORE TKOF AND SIGHT GLASS GAUGES WERE NOT RELIABLE. AS TAUGHT, ALWAYS CHK FUEL YOURSELF. NO DAMAGE TO PLANE. FARM OWNER ALLOWING ME TO TAKE OFF TO LEAVE.
