Narrative:

While taxiing from the gate to the active runway, my first officer and I were performing the before takeoff checklist. As I checked for aileron movement on my side I noticed that we were too close to the left edge of the taxiway. I applied brakes and right rudder but the left propeller hit the taxi light. Supplemental information from acn 220720: maybe the checklist should be started after clearing any taxi obstructions!
