Narrative:

Our first flight of the day was cancelled so we had sat for 5 hours before taking this delayed flight. On takeoff, autothrottles became inoperative and we set power manually climbing to 2000 ft assigned. At about 1500 ft, first officer called traffic to right. TCASII called traffic and I looked right and when I looked back at instruments, I was passing 2000 ft -- immediately nosed-over but hit 2200 ft before descending to 2000. A response from controller except to ask our altitude assigned and then our altitude. Traffic passed behind us. I never saw it.
