Narrative:

Small aircraft landing portland hillsboro airport, runway 30, winds reported 010/8. Windsock indicating minor variability in direction and mild gusting, apparently inadequately compensated for once on the ground. Aircraft right wing lifted slightly, with initial veer to left, overcorrected with travel to the right into the grass but parallel to the runway and still at speed so elected takeoff from the grass and repeat landing rather than risk further poor control on the grass. Second landing without incident. No damage to aircraft, probably none to facility (though some question about a landing light not clearly visible to ATC from tower in daylight).

Title: SMA ON LNDG HAS LOSS OF CTL FROM SLIGHT XWIND, GOES OFF INTO GRASS, PARALLEL TO RWY. STILL HAS SPD FOR TKOF AND SECOND ATTEMPT.

Narrative: SMA LNDG PORTLAND HILLSBORO ARPT, RWY 30, WINDS RPTED 010/8. WINDSOCK INDICATING MINOR VARIABILITY IN DIRECTION AND MILD GUSTING, APPARENTLY INADEQUATELY COMPENSATED FOR ONCE ON THE GND. ACFT R WING LIFTED SLIGHTLY, WITH INITIAL VEER TO L, OVERCORRECTED WITH TRAVEL TO THE R INTO THE GRASS BUT PARALLEL TO THE RWY AND STILL AT SPD SO ELECTED TKOF FROM THE GRASS AND REPEAT LNDG RATHER THAN RISK FURTHER POOR CTL ON THE GRASS. SECOND LNDG WITHOUT INCIDENT. NO DAMAGE TO ACFT, PROBABLY NONE TO FACILITY (THOUGH SOME QUESTION ABOUT A LNDG LIGHT NOT CLRLY VISIBLE TO ATC FROM TWR IN DAYLIGHT).
