Narrative:
I set up simulated engine failure by adjusting throttle to idle. My student went through the procedures required had selected a new field on the west side of tanaka farms. We continued our approach to a point where we could determine that we would 'make the field.' according to the local tac, the ground elevation was approximately 5050-5288 ft MSL. Our indicated altitude at the lowest point was approximately 5800 which would be between 512-750 ft AGL. (Visually, we looked to be 500 plus ft AGL). As we added power to go around, my student noticed a man on the ground waving us away. He was standing on the deck of his house which was located south 1/4 mi. We picked a heading to the southwest; continued our climb. I believe all of my actions were legal and reasonable, however, it seems for whatever reason that we upset the man on the ground; did not intend to.

Title: LOW FLT DURING A PRACTICE FORCED LNDG.
Narrative: I SET UP SIMULATED ENG FAILURE BY ADJUSTING THROTTLE TO IDLE. MY STUDENT WENT THROUGH THE PROCS REQUIRED HAD SELECTED A NEW FIELD ON THE W SIDE OF TANAKA FARMS. WE CONTINUED OUR APCH TO A POINT WHERE WE COULD DETERMINE THAT WE WOULD 'MAKE THE FIELD.' ACCORDING TO THE LCL TAC, THE GND ELEVATION WAS APPROX 5050-5288 FT MSL. OUR INDICATED ALT AT THE LOWEST POINT WAS APPROX 5800 WHICH WOULD BE BTWN 512-750 FT AGL. (VISUALLY, WE LOOKED TO BE 500 PLUS FT AGL). AS WE ADDED PWR TO GAR, MY STUDENT NOTICED A MAN ON THE GND WAVING US AWAY. HE WAS STANDING ON THE DECK OF HIS HOUSE WHICH WAS LOCATED S 1/4 MI. WE PICKED A HDG TO THE SW; CONTINUED OUR CLB. I BELIEVE ALL OF MY ACTIONS WERE LEGAL AND REASONABLE, HOWEVER, IT SEEMS FOR WHATEVER REASON THAT WE UPSET THE MAN ON THE GND; DID NOT INTEND TO.
