Narrative:

Upon taxiing for takeoff contacted unicom 122.8 for airport advisories. They asked if I would be remaining in the pattern because the 'blue angels' would be beginning their routine shortly. There appeared to be normal activity in the pattern with a taking off and landing. I assumed this was an advisory regarding activity to the north over the severn river in annapolis, which is well to the north of W32. I received a complete briefing including NOTAMS, prior to flight. After departure I wondered if there was a class ii NOTAM for air show activity that the FSS specialist and I were unaware of. (In the past there has occasionally been a NOTAM to contact adw tower before departure during air shows). Recommended actions: the subscription cost of the class ii NOTAMS ($79.00) is the sole reason I have not personally subscribed. However, I experienced great difficulty trying to locate a copy to check after the flight. I even visited a FSS but they had discarded theirs on 5/28. Reduce cost of subscription to class ii NOTAMS. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information. Reporter states he had received briefing prior to departure and no mention of any NOTAM reference blue angels. Heard helicopter on frequency commenting he would remain below 1000 ft. Reporter always had access to NOTAMS at previous location, but FBO where he is presently does not make NOTAMS available. Reporter feels price is excessive, especially compared to instrument publications. Flight was uneventful. Never able to learn if there was NOTAM issued.

Title: SMA PLT ADVISED OF BLUE ANGELS ABOUT TO BEGIN ROUTINE AS HE TAXIED FOR TKOF. NO NOTAM ISSUED AT FSS BRIEFING.

Narrative: UPON TAXIING FOR TKOF CONTACTED UNICOM 122.8 FOR ARPT ADVISORIES. THEY ASKED IF I WOULD BE REMAINING IN THE PATTERN BECAUSE THE 'BLUE ANGELS' WOULD BE BEGINNING THEIR ROUTINE SHORTLY. THERE APPEARED TO BE NORMAL ACTIVITY IN THE PATTERN WITH A TAKING OFF AND LNDG. I ASSUMED THIS WAS AN ADVISORY REGARDING ACTIVITY TO THE N OVER THE SEVERN RIVER IN ANNAPOLIS, WHICH IS WELL TO THE N OF W32. I RECEIVED A COMPLETE BRIEFING INCLUDING NOTAMS, PRIOR TO FLT. AFTER DEP I WONDERED IF THERE WAS A CLASS II NOTAM FOR AIR SHOW ACTIVITY THAT THE FSS SPECIALIST AND I WERE UNAWARE OF. (IN THE PAST THERE HAS OCCASIONALLY BEEN A NOTAM TO CONTACT ADW TWR BEFORE DEP DURING AIR SHOWS). RECOMMENDED ACTIONS: THE SUBSCRIPTION COST OF THE CLASS II NOTAMS ($79.00) IS THE SOLE REASON I HAVE NOT PERSONALLY SUBSCRIBED. HOWEVER, I EXPERIENCED GREAT DIFFICULTY TRYING TO LOCATE A COPY TO CHK AFTER THE FLT. I EVEN VISITED A FSS BUT THEY HAD DISCARDED THEIRS ON 5/28. REDUCE COST OF SUBSCRIPTION TO CLASS II NOTAMS. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO. RPTR STATES HE HAD RECEIVED BRIEFING PRIOR TO DEP AND NO MENTION OF ANY NOTAM REF BLUE ANGELS. HEARD HELI ON FREQ COMMENTING HE WOULD REMAIN BELOW 1000 FT. RPTR ALWAYS HAD ACCESS TO NOTAMS AT PREVIOUS LOCATION, BUT FBO WHERE HE IS PRESENTLY DOES NOT MAKE NOTAMS AVAILABLE. RPTR FEELS PRICE IS EXCESSIVE, ESPECIALLY COMPARED TO INST PUBLICATIONS. FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL. NEVER ABLE TO LEARN IF THERE WAS NOTAM ISSUED.
