Narrative:

Landing at apa. Contacted den approach 34 DME north for TCA transit to apa. Cleared into the TCA at 7500, to remain VFR west of i- 25 (normal routing). Requested down to 7000 to maintain cloud clearance. Exiting the 7000 MSL area of the den TCA, southwest was advised 'clear of the TCA, squawk VFR, frequency change approved.' had called apa ATIS, called tower, no response. Changed radios, verified frequency, called tower, no response heard. Squawked 7700 for 1 min, then 7600, continued south, switched radio #1 to apa ground. Poor, but readable contact.
