Narrative:

3/xx was a stormy winter night in btv with rapid accumulation of rain, sleet and snow in that order. The small transport was scraped clean of snow and ice, and deicer was applied to leading edges, windshield and hinges just prior to taxi. During the initiation to taxi a jet taxied and parked in such a way as to delay my taxi by approximately 5 mins. Another delay to takeoff was because of inbound traffic on the ILS and snow removal equipment on runway and taxiways. Time from glycol application to takeoff was approximately 10-15 mins all the while the snow was falling. On takeoff roll airspeed was normal but altimeter and vsi never left their positions during climb. At approximately 100 ft AGL the airspeed went from blue line to zero. I told btv tower I had a problem and was immediately cleared to land but I was quickly loosing visual on the airport. I had no way of confirming altitude or rate of climb except for the fact that I maintained a climb attitude. The altitude static source must of had ice blocking the line and breaking the vsi glass was attempted numerous times with numerous methods without success (much to my disbelief). Returning to btv with -X 1400 3/4 south bs F and no altimeter did not seem to be the best option. I flew to lower terrain and maintained a climb attitude until I was VFR on top. VFR WX was south so I decided to head down the champlain valley towards alb . I proceeded towards baf and landed VFR without incident. I got out of the airplane and scraped ice off of both static ports which had been covered with ice. When I took off towards bdl the altimeter was still inoperative but I was able to proceed VFR and land. I hangared the airplane in a heated hangar and in the a.M. The alternate static as well as the normal static source were both working as normal.

Title: SMT PLT HAS ICING OF PITOT STATIC SYS, RESULTING IN NO AIRSPD, ALT OR VERT SPD. HEADS FOR VMC.

ANOTHER DELAY TO TKOF WAS BECAUSE OF INBOUND TFC ON THE ILS AND SNOW REMOVAL EQUIP ON RWY AND TAXIWAYS. TIME FROM GLYCOL APPLICATION TO TKOF WAS APPROX 10-15 MINS ALL THE WHILE THE SNOW WAS FALLING. ON TKOF ROLL AIRSPD WAS NORMAL BUT ALTIMETER AND VSI NEVER LEFT THEIR POSITIONS DURING CLB. AT APPROX 100 FT AGL THE AIRSPD WENT FROM BLUE LINE TO ZERO. I TOLD BTV TWR I HAD A PROBLEM AND WAS IMMEDIATELY CLRED TO LAND BUT I WAS QUICKLY LOOSING VISUAL ON THE ARPT. I HAD NO WAY OF CONFIRMING ALT OR RATE OF CLB EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT I MAINTAINED A CLB ATTITUDE. THE ALT STATIC SOURCE MUST OF HAD ICE BLOCKING THE LINE AND BREAKING THE VSI GLASS WAS ATTEMPTED NUMEROUS TIMES WITH NUMEROUS METHODS WITHOUT SUCCESS (MUCH TO MY DISBELIEF). RETURNING TO BTV WITH -X 1400 3/4 S BS F AND NO ALTIMETER DID NOT SEEM TO BE THE BEST OPTION. I FLEW TO LOWER TERRAIN AND MAINTAINED A CLB ATTITUDE UNTIL I WAS VFR ON TOP. VFR WX WAS S SO I DECIDED TO HEAD DOWN THE CHAMPLAIN VALLEY TOWARDS ALB . I PROCEEDED TOWARDS BAF AND LANDED VFR WITHOUT INCIDENT. I GOT OUT OF THE AIRPLANE AND SCRAPED ICE OFF OF BOTH STATIC PORTS WHICH HAD BEEN COVERED WITH ICE. WHEN I TOOK OFF TOWARDS BDL THE ALTIMETER WAS STILL INOPERATIVE BUT I WAS ABLE TO PROCEED VFR AND LAND. I HANGARED THE AIRPLANE IN A HEATED HANGAR AND IN THE A.M. THE ALTERNATE STATIC AS WELL AS THE NORMAL STATIC SOURCE WERE BOTH WORKING AS NORMAL.
