Narrative:

While taxiing on the ramp between fingers 3 and 4 and lga, we were told to stop. There was a fuel truck servicing an airplane on gate and the ground crew felt it was blocking our entrance to gate. The fuel truck was told to move forward, which it did. At this time, a ramp agent arrived driving a belt loader and assumed the position of wing walker for the left wing. He signaled 'thumbs up,' and we followed the lead-in man's directions. The captain told me he took one more look at the left wing walker before he went out of sight, and he was still giving 'thumbs up.' as the radome was abeam the jetway, we felt a bump similar to uneven pavement, which is not unusual for lga. At this time the ramp agent signaled us to stop. Which we did. After we stopped for a moment, he again signaled us forward. After moving forward only 6 or 10 ft, he signaled us to stop. He then gave us the sign that chocks were in, and we shut down the left engine and released parking brake. A moment later external power was put on. At no time did the ground crew inform us that we hit a fuel truck. The metal along the left wingtip was scraped. Both static wicks were broken off, and the strobe light housing was broken. On the fuel truck, the ladder on the back of the truck was bent.
