Narrative:

This was my first leg at the controls of an medium large transport aircraft. We were flying a revenue flight from mex to dfw. The possible conflict occurred while established in sequence on the aqn 2 STAR arrival procedure. As I remember, we were cleared direct to aqn VOR to intercept the 040 degree radial from aqn to hulen intersection. Prior to aqn, we were cleared direct hulen then onto creek. We set up what I thought was an intercept to hulen. We input the latitude/long into the omega for navigation using the VOR as a primary backup. The potential conflict occurred when we missed the intercept of the 040 degree radial from aqn inside of hulen. Our mistake was noticed by regional approach when we were given a right turn approximately 40 degree to our right to intercept the 040 degree radial to hulen/creek. ATC (regional approach) did not indicate a conflict took place or that a violation was issued. We were lucky that VMC conditions were in place and traffic was light. This report is submitted to notify the FAA that I realize the mistake and potential problem which could have developed. Situational awareness is extremely important. If I can provide additional information please notify me.

Title: ACR ACFT DEV FROM PUBLISHED STAR ARR TRACK.

Narrative: THIS WAS MY FIRST LEG AT THE CTLS OF AN MLG ACFT. WE WERE FLYING A REVENUE FLT FROM MEX TO DFW. THE POSSIBLE CONFLICT OCCURRED WHILE ESTABLISHED IN SEQUENCE ON THE AQN 2 STAR ARR PROC. AS I REMEMBER, WE WERE CLRED DIRECT TO AQN VOR TO INTERCEPT THE 040 DEG RADIAL FROM AQN TO HULEN INTXN. PRIOR TO AQN, WE WERE CLRED DIRECT HULEN THEN ONTO CREEK. WE SET UP WHAT I THOUGHT WAS AN INTERCEPT TO HULEN. WE INPUT THE LAT/LONG INTO THE OMEGA FOR NAV USING THE VOR AS A PRIMARY BACKUP. THE POTENTIAL CONFLICT OCCURRED WHEN WE MISSED THE INTERCEPT OF THE 040 DEG RADIAL FROM AQN INSIDE OF HULEN. OUR MISTAKE WAS NOTICED BY REGIONAL APCH WHEN WE WERE GIVEN A R TURN APPROX 40 DEG TO OUR R TO INTERCEPT THE 040 DEG RADIAL TO HULEN/CREEK. ATC (REGIONAL APCH) DID NOT INDICATE A CONFLICT TOOK PLACE OR THAT A VIOLATION WAS ISSUED. WE WERE LUCKY THAT VMC CONDITIONS WERE IN PLACE AND TFC WAS LIGHT. THIS RPT IS SUBMITTED TO NOTIFY THE FAA THAT I REALIZE THE MISTAKE AND POTENTIAL PROBLEM WHICH COULD HAVE DEVELOPED. SITUATIONAL AWARENESS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. IF I CAN PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFO PLEASE NOTIFY ME.
