Narrative:
We were on a flight from miami to pittsburgh. In miami we use ACARS to receive our clearance. When I asked the first officer for the assigned SID he indicated to me that he had gotten the clearance. Because he said 'miami 5'. When we were taxiing out I noticed the altitude alerter was not properly set and I asked him to verify our clearance from the ACARS. It turns out he had looked at a previous clearance and we had not gotten our correct clearance from miami. We requested a full readback while on taxi out and no further problem was encountered.
