Narrative:

On 2/mon/92, I was assigned to work the APU problem on aircraft xyz. The APU was on a placard. After reviewing the fmr, I ran the APU, it did not exceed 710 degree C, but was running at approximately 660 degree C. I shut the APU down, accomplished sic #123 and adjusted the cracking pressure. I also replaced the APU control thermostat (the 3001) and adjusted same per sic 123. All indications were normal at the time and I removed the placard. At no time was I advised or saw that M/M card bh 245 was a mandatory scheduled card in the work package envelope. It is to my understanding that an 'atbt' is a recommendation and not a mandatory requirement. Concerning the written statement in the facted item of the fmr of 'accomplished atbt,' within the guidelines of recommendations set forth by tech services. I looked for the M/M card bh 499420 in the large transport M/M chp 49 table of contents and was unable to locate the card and assumed it was printed in error. I feel that the M/M card bh 456 should of been scheduled and put in the work package or made mandatory on the fmr run if the APU could not be legally reinstated operative without specifically accomplishing this work card.

Title: APU PUT BACK IN SVC ON LGT WITHOUT PROPER MAINT SVCING.

Narrative: ON 2/MON/92, I WAS ASSIGNED TO WORK THE APU PROBLEM ON ACFT XYZ. THE APU WAS ON A PLACARD. AFTER REVIEWING THE FMR, I RAN THE APU, IT DID NOT EXCEED 710 DEG C, BUT WAS RUNNING AT APPROX 660 DEG C. I SHUT THE APU DOWN, ACCOMPLISHED SIC #123 AND ADJUSTED THE CRACKING PRESSURE. I ALSO REPLACED THE APU CTL THERMOSTAT (THE 3001) AND ADJUSTED SAME PER SIC 123. CONCERNING THE WRITTEN STATEMENT IN THE FACTED ITEM OF THE FMR OF 'ACCOMPLISHED ATBT,' WITHIN THE GUIDELINES OF RECOMMENDATIONS SET FORTH BY TECH SVCS. I LOOKED FOR THE M/M CARD BH 499420 IN THE LGT M/M CHP 49 TABLE OF CONTENTS AND WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE CARD AND ASSUMED IT WAS PRINTED IN ERROR.
