Narrative:

On power up we had a takeoff warning horn. The takeoff was aborted. The captain announced on unicom that we aborted because of a 'caution light' in the cockpit. This was wrong. We had warning horn because the elevator trim was not at takeoff setting - not a caution light. Because of what he said, airport fire fighters asked if everything was okay. We discovered the trim was not set. We set it and did a takeoff without further incident. Why the captain said that I have no idea. He made a simple situation difficult by stating the wrong reason we aborted. It was the last leg of a very long day, and we were both very tired, and overlooked the elevator trim on the before start checklist.
