Narrative:

We were making a visual approach to 30L at stl. We were told to maintain 3500 ft until west of the river and to contact the tower. I then noticed a target (yellow) approaching my aircraft from the left. We had started descending on the GS for 30L and so I noticed also that the altitude separation was diminishing. The target was never mentioned to us in ATC communications. I questioned the stl tower as to traffic in my vicinity. They confirmed there was a commuter mdt crossing over on a visual to 30R and that he had us in sight. I immediately commanded the first officer to stop descending as the TCASII warned to 'monitor climb speed.' TCASII altitude separation indicated '0'. The mdt shortly became visible out the right cockpit window. At this point, we had become quite high on the GS, but were able to salvage the approach.

Title: ACR LGT RPTS CLOSE PROX WITH A COMMUTER MDT BOTH ON VISUAL APCHS TO PARALLEL RWYS WITH MDT XING THE LGT'S APCH PATH FROM THE L TO THE R RWY.

Narrative: WE WERE MAKING A VISUAL APCH TO 30L AT STL. WE WERE TOLD TO MAINTAIN 3500 FT UNTIL W OF THE RIVER AND TO CONTACT THE TWR. I THEN NOTICED A TARGET (YELLOW) APCHING MY ACFT FROM THE L. WE HAD STARTED DSNDING ON THE GS FOR 30L AND SO I NOTICED ALSO THAT THE ALT SEPARATION WAS DIMINISHING. THE TARGET WAS NEVER MENTIONED TO US IN ATC COMS. I QUESTIONED THE STL TWR AS TO TFC IN MY VICINITY. THEY CONFIRMED THERE WAS A COMMUTER MDT XING OVER ON A VISUAL TO 30R AND THAT HE HAD US IN SIGHT. I IMMEDIATELY COMMANDED THE FO TO STOP DSNDING AS THE TCASII WARNED TO 'MONITOR CLB SPD.' TCASII ALT SEPARATION INDICATED '0'. THE MDT SHORTLY BECAME VISIBLE OUT THE R COCKPIT WINDOW. AT THIS POINT, WE HAD BECOME QUITE HIGH ON THE GS, BUT WERE ABLE TO SALVAGE THE APCH.
