Narrative:

On approach at dfw, level at 11000 ft. We got an RA to 'climb, climb.' we climbed immediately to put the roc needle in the green (1500-2000 FPM) and noted traffic on the TCASII screen at approximately 9 O'clock but didn't have time to note his altitude. At approximately 11800 ft the advisory ceased and we descended to 11000 ft. The controller was very busy and we couldn't get a word in edgewise till we were at 11800 ft. She wasn't too happy (traffic at 12000 ft). Why don't they include in this procedure that we immediately squawk 7700 to alert the controller? We in fact did have traffic at 9 O'clock as attested to by the passenger! It passed under us!
