Narrative:

When aircraft arrived at the gate it was noticed making a strange noise for an medium large transport. Mr. G was assigned to work this aircraft. He was told by several mechanics and myself that the aircraft had a major engine problem. The pilot had written up the left engine as having a low N1 RPM. We heard nothing from mr. G again until just prior to departure when he turned in his paperwork. Normal procedure here is for a mechanic when he has a problem that he cannot handle, or is unsure of, is to see his lead, or get another mechanic to assist him. As we had heard nothing from mr. G the assumption was that he had the problem handled. Reading the logsheets proved otherwise. Being as the pilot did not report any vibration problems, it was not considered, at that time, to be that urgent a problem. We were going to call the next overnight station and inform them.
