Narrative:

Climbing through 4500 ft on the manteca 183 radial approximately 10 mi from sck airport, the controller called traffic at 11 O'clock less than a mi. I looked in the direction and saw an small aircraft at our altitude. We both took evasive action. He pulled up and we went under him. Told the controller how close we came. He apologized for the late warning. I called sck approach and told them a NASA report would be submitted. I was on an IFR flight plan. The small aircraft was VFR on a heading of 270 degrees approximate. I believe I heard the small aircraft pilot say that was close. I agree too close!
