Narrative:
I worked final for runway 27R at O'hare. I cleared air carrier abc for approach. I did not hear large transport X (air carrier abb) who was on heading 180 at 8000 ft acknowledge for the approach clearance. Large transport X descended into small transport Y on downwind descending out of 7000 ft. Loss of separation occurred even though I vectored the 2 aircraft away.

Narrative: I WORKED FINAL FOR RWY 27R AT O'HARE. I CLRED ACR ABC FOR APCH. I DID NOT HEAR LGT X (ACR ABB) WHO WAS ON HDG 180 AT 8000 FT ACKNOWLEDGE FOR THE APCH CLRNC. LGT X DSNDED INTO SMT Y ON DOWNWIND DSNDING OUT OF 7000 FT. LOSS OF SEPARATION OCCURRED EVEN THOUGH I VECTORED THE 2 ACFT AWAY.
