Narrative:

On runway 34L at sea, awaiting takeoff clearance, RVR touchdown 6000 (we could see downtown sea). RVR midfield and rollout 700 (fog bank). After takeoff clearance and while accelerating, tower advised us that midfield RVR dropped to 400 making takeoff illegal. I continued with takeoff since I knew we would be airborne before reaching fog bank, and we were. Had I aborted takeoff, rollout would have been into fog bank. Airplane was always in VMC.

AFTER TKOF CLRNC AND WHILE ACCELERATING, TWR ADVISED US THAT MIDFIELD RVR DROPPED TO 400 MAKING TKOF ILLEGAL. I CONTINUED WITH TKOF SINCE I KNEW WE WOULD BE AIRBORNE BEFORE REACHING FOG BANK, AND WE WERE. HAD I ABORTED TKOF, ROLLOUT WOULD HAVE BEEN INTO FOG BANK. AIRPLANE WAS ALWAYS IN VMC.
