Narrative:

My copilot was hand flying this ILS to runway 19R. While he was turning to intercept the localizer, he began a gradual descent out of his GS intercept altitude. I told him to climb back to our assigned intercept altitude. He started a smooth climb back to our intercept altitude and continued the approach. About the same time approach said that they were getting a low altitude warning and to climb back to 2800. We had gone below this altitude by 150 ft on this leg from msp-mke my first officer was slow on his xchk. It seemed he was eliminating the altimeter and ivsi from his xchk. This deviation was a very small amount and of a very short term. This is the first time I have ever received one of these alerts on final. If we had both missed this deviation, it is nice to know that approach control at some airports are capable of seeing this early enough to alert you of a worsening condition before it goes too far.
