Narrative:

During taxi process/after landing, I inadvertently violated an active runway at eppley air field. I received and acknowledged taxi instructions to hold clear of active runway. Due to snow coverage and snow along a secondary active runway, I inadvertently got the nose of aircraft over the edge or on the near side of active runway. Immediately looking to the takeoff area, an small aircraft was in process of departing. I made an immediate decision to proceed to clear runway which of course violated the instructions that were issued. Distance to takeoff aircraft approximately 2000 ft. A factor that should be noted is that due to construction/runway caution stripes on taxiway are not in place at this time. Secondly, the snow coverage at this time prohibits any visual contact with runway until in close proximity in this area.

Title: SMT PLT CROSSES RWY WHEN CLRED TO HOLD SHORT.

Narrative: DURING TAXI PROCESS/AFTER LNDG, I INADVERTENTLY VIOLATED AN ACTIVE RWY AT EPPLEY AIR FIELD. I RECEIVED AND ACKNOWLEDGED TAXI INSTRUCTIONS TO HOLD CLR OF ACTIVE RWY. DUE TO SNOW COVERAGE AND SNOW ALONG A SECONDARY ACTIVE RWY, I INADVERTENTLY GOT THE NOSE OF ACFT OVER THE EDGE OR ON THE NEAR SIDE OF ACTIVE RWY. IMMEDIATELY LOOKING TO THE TKOF AREA, AN SMA WAS IN PROCESS OF DEPARTING. I MADE AN IMMEDIATE DECISION TO PROCEED TO CLR RWY WHICH OF COURSE VIOLATED THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT WERE ISSUED. DISTANCE TO TKOF ACFT APPROX 2000 FT. A FACTOR THAT SHOULD BE NOTED IS THAT DUE TO CONSTRUCTION/RWY CAUTION STRIPES ON TAXIWAY ARE NOT IN PLACE AT THIS TIME. SECONDLY, THE SNOW COVERAGE AT THIS TIME PROHIBITS ANY VISUAL CONTACT WITH RWY UNTIL IN CLOSE PROX IN THIS AREA.
