Narrative:

During approach to landing at hooks airport, I assumed I had been cleared to land on runway 35L. I was cleared to land on 35R. During my approach I heard engines and noticed an small transport was flying under me. I corrected my approach to land on 35R. The time of day was dusk and the rotating airport beacon was on. Airport does not allow lndgs on 35R during night operations because it does not have runway lights. I had heard 35R, but thought 35L because of 'night' operations and proceeded to make my approach to 35L. As a CFI, I understand and teach the importance to listen to the controllers. I didn't heed my own advise. The result could have been tragic. Thanks be to god that the only damage was emotional. The tower asked me to call and describe the situation upon landing which I did. No further actions were taken. All of my aircraft's position lights, rotating beacon and landing lights were illuminated.
