Narrative:

On downwind vectors to runway 9L at mia at 8000. Airport in sight and cleared for visual approach by mia approach control. Also instructed to 'keep it tight, traffic to follow.' I notified approach that I needed to lose 8000 ft and therefore needed space. We were then handed over to mia tower, which upon initial contact, cleared us to land on runway 9L. At approximately 3000 ft on base, TCASII reported 'traffic, traffic' (TA) 2 O'clock followed by an (RA) 'monitor vertical speed.' now mia tower called the traffic and asked if we had traffic in sight, which we did not. By now, TCASII was instructing us to 'climb, climb' followed by the RA 'climb now, climb now' and vertical speed RA called for 2500 FPM. Tower now instructed us to turn right to 250 degree (we were in a left turn to final heading 120 degree for runway 9L) in the right turn at approximately 230 degree. We were nose to nose with an light transport Y which passed below us. We were in about 15- 20 degree nose up attitude. About 10 seconds later with TCASII still issuing multiple RA's we passed an large transport on final for 9R. After a few vectors we returned and made a normal landing on 9L in mia.

Title: CLOSE PROX 2 COMMUTER LTTS ON DSCNT FOR LNDG AT MIA.

Narrative: ON DOWNWIND VECTORS TO RWY 9L AT MIA AT 8000. ARPT IN SIGHT AND CLRED FOR VISUAL APCH BY MIA APCH CTL. ALSO INSTRUCTED TO 'KEEP IT TIGHT, TFC TO FOLLOW.' I NOTIFIED APCH THAT I NEEDED TO LOSE 8000 FT AND THEREFORE NEEDED SPACE. WE WERE THEN HANDED OVER TO MIA TWR, WHICH UPON INITIAL CONTACT, CLRED US TO LAND ON RWY 9L. AT APPROX 3000 FT ON BASE, TCASII RPTED 'TFC, TFC' (TA) 2 O'CLOCK FOLLOWED BY AN (RA) 'MONITOR VERT SPD.' NOW MIA TWR CALLED THE TFC AND ASKED IF WE HAD TFC IN SIGHT, WHICH WE DID NOT. BY NOW, TCASII WAS INSTRUCTING US TO 'CLB, CLB' FOLLOWED BY THE RA 'CLB NOW, CLB NOW' AND VERT SPD RA CALLED FOR 2500 FPM. TWR NOW INSTRUCTED US TO TURN R TO 250 DEG (WE WERE IN A L TURN TO FINAL HDG 120 DEG FOR RWY 9L) IN THE R TURN AT APPROX 230 DEG. WE WERE NOSE TO NOSE WITH AN LTT Y WHICH PASSED BELOW US. WE WERE IN ABOUT 15- 20 DEG NOSE UP ATTITUDE. ABOUT 10 SECONDS LATER WITH TCASII STILL ISSUING MULTIPLE RA'S WE PASSED AN LGT ON FINAL FOR 9R. AFTER A FEW VECTORS WE RETURNED AND MADE A NORMAL LNDG ON 9L IN MIA.
